Overview

What interim management means at NM

Interim management places experienced senior executives into your business for a fixed period with a defined mandate: cover a departure, lead a transformation, stabilise a function or bridge to a permanent appointment.

Interim executives are a distinct population from permanent candidates. They are available at short notice, priced by the day or month, and motivated by the problem rather than the title. They are also used to landing in an unfamiliar business and producing results within weeks.

Crucially, using an interim removes time pressure from the permanent search. Appointing a leader because the seat is empty is how businesses make expensive mistakes.

Problems we solve

What usually goes wrong, and how we handle it

A critical seat is suddenly empty

An experienced interim can typically be in place within two to four weeks, holding the function while a permanent search runs properly.

The permanent search is being rushed

Interim cover removes the deadline pressure that leads to compromise appointments.

You need expertise you will not need permanently

ERP implementation, an audit remediation, a plant commissioning, expertise you need for nine months, not forever.

Change needs someone without internal history

Interims can make unpopular but necessary decisions precisely because they are not building a long-term internal position.

Roles we recruit

Typical mandates

Indicative, not exhaustive, if your role is adjacent to these, it is very likely in scope.

Our methodology

How the engagement runs

  1. 01

    Define the mandate

Specific outcomes, decision rights, duration and the exit criteria that mark the assignment complete.

  2. 02

    Match from the interim pool

Candidates presented within days, screened for genuine availability and directly relevant prior assignments.

  3. 03

    Selection

A short, focused assessment process, interims are chosen on demonstrated results in comparable situations.

  4. 04

    Deployment

Contract, onboarding and stakeholder introduction, typically within two to four weeks of brief.

  5. 05

    Delivery & review

Regular reviews against the mandate, with scope adjusted formally rather than by drift.

  6. 06

    Handover

Structured handover to the permanent appointee, including documentation and a transition period.

Client feedback

What employers say

  • Replace with a verbatim client quote. The most useful ones name the difficulty of the brief, the timeline NM worked to, and what the appointed person has since delivered.

    Client name

    Designation, Company

  • Replace with a quote from an HR or talent leader. Quotes that describe the working relationship, responsiveness, shortlist quality, honesty about the market, carry more weight than general praise.

    Client name

    Head of Human Resources, Company

  • Replace with a quote from a founder or CXO about a leadership appointment. Ask for permission to name the role that was filled, specificity is what makes a testimonial persuasive.

Placeholder quotes. Replace with verbatim, attributable testimonials in src/data/testimonials.ts before launch, never publish an invented quote.

FAQs

Interim Management, frequently asked

Most interim mandates are filled within two to four weeks of the brief. Interim executives are typically available at short notice, which is a defining feature of the population.

Interim assignments are charged as a day rate or monthly rate covering the executive's fee and NM's management fee. Rates depend on seniority, sector and mandate complexity, and are agreed before deployment.

Most run three to twelve months. Shorter assignments cover a specific project; longer ones usually bridge to a permanent appointment or run a defined transformation.

A senior executive working part-time on an ongoing basis, commonly one or two days a week. It suits businesses that need genuine CFO or CHRO capability but cannot yet justify a full-time appointment.
